International DJ and Producer Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola popularly known as Cuppy, gives us her 2nd single ‘Vybe’ a follow up to her hit debut single ‘Green Light’ which featured award-winning artist, Tekno.

This time, Cuppy has teamed up with Ghanaian legend, Sarkodie and this infectious Afro-Pop catchy song will no doubt be hitting clubs, DJ sets and charts across the world.

Considered the leading female DJ in Nigeria, Cuppy is a familiar name across the music scene, having successfully gained a lot of recognition both in Nigeria and internationally, but is showing us a completely different angle to her brand with this new release.

With her musical talent, Cuppy is already known as a gifted DJ and creative, but ‘Vybe’’ sees her step even further into the world of vocalist, songwriter, and producer. Upon hearing ‘Vybe’  its contagious sound is certainly captivating, by, the sounds of it will be a firm favourite in Afrobeat playlists across the world.

That’s the driver for the songwriting on his sixth album, “Oso (The Wizard).” The 11-track album, with a run-time of 38-minutes, reads off like a sage-worthy scroll. It’s a breathing marvel of entertainment and illumination; offering you sonic satisfaction, while providing a deeper understanding of life, by educating, inspiring and entertaining you.

This isn’t a new dimension of Brymo. This has been the formula for his art across all his projects. From “Merchants, Dealers &amp; Slaves,” to “Klitoris”, you would always find Brymo taking an intellectual leap with you, pulling you by the hair, or whispering into your heart to accompany him on a journey. That’s why when he is loved by a fan, it runs deep. He is a companion that transcends the art and your playlist, into becoming a staple of your life.

While his previous albums have moved tempos and provided pop satisfaction and danceable numbers, “Oso (The Wizard)” takes away pace from everything. Brymo, writing on a piano, with producer Mikkyme Joses, keeps it all serene and ambient, providing his voice, songwriting prowess and wisdom as the leading elements of this album. There are no delirious highs of “Preek no get shoulder!,” or the banging cries of “Femi!” What you get is relaxed, soothing, vibes, interspersed with an exploration of the human condition.

Opener ‘No be me’ starts from a place of romance, before morphing into an existentialist discourse which has the hook, “No be me create the world, no be you create the world, we dey point the finger at each other, but no be me create the world.” On interlude ‘Mama’, he appreciates maternal efforts of comfort, despite the raging injustice and suffering around us. (“The government dey veto, dey fuck us oh. The thief still dey shit on the good man oh.”)

Despite the Nigerian situation that we all agree is dark, Brymo still believes in the power of our efforts. ‘Heya’ with its piano accompaniment, carries the hopes and desires of hopeful lovers, who need to show discernment and tenacity in finding their heart desire. The emotions on ‘Patience and Goodluck’ simply points to us to the huge moral lesson that says “hang in there, don’t lose hope!” While ‘God is in your mind’ – one of the gloomiest cuts of the album – encourages us to be our own heroes. “For the first time, gods are we, without a face. For the first time, gods are we, without a name…For the first time, God is in your mind.”

This dichotomy of dark sounds, paired with inspirational lyricism carry through this album, creating a weirdly satisfying blend of mastery. Perhaps, that is the wizardry here; the ability to create an inverse Trojan horse by wrapping light in the darkness.

Over the years, Brymo has taken on a few personas: the impossibly smart Lagosian with “M, D&amp;S”, the cinematic loverboy on ‘Klitoris’, and the woke-pop enthusiast on “Tabula Rasa”, for example. As it turns out, larger-than-life, philosophical Brymo which we get on this album,  is the one that suits him best.

Brymo unleashes the debut single off his new album, "Oso (The Wizard)."

The first pick from the project is titled 'Heya', and the video, which pushes the artistic visual boundaries, has the singer sharing wisdom.

Terri has been introduced under Starboy on Wizkid’s debut single for 2018. It is titled ‘Soco’, and also features guest acts, Spotless and Ceeza Milli.

Terri’s signing comes two months after <a href="http://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/music/5-things-you-should-know-about-ahmed-wizkids-latest-artist-id7825712.html" id="28164d2d-0477-5d1d-b6ad-965c0968431c">Wizkid signed up Ahmed</a>, a 12-year-old rapper named who freestyled at his headline concert in December.

Wizkid is also set to drop an EP, titled “Made In Lagos.” According to the singer, thenew EP which he has continuously teased on Twitter, will contain ‘Soco’.

Brymo has revealed why he believes he is the greatest Nigerian musician ever.

In an interview with Pulse, the singer explained why he believes he is currently the greatest Nigerian musician alive.

“The bulk of the things I say online is to pretty much draw people's attention to what is important,” the singer says.

“A time will come in the nearest future where there will be a Nigerian artiste who plays the guitar as good as Carlos Santana, who writes as well as Brymo, who sings as well as Asa. Who does everything well. Who will probably be better than all of us. That day will come.

“But for now, I feel very little attention is being paid to content. So every opportunity I get to make people say "What is That?" I use it. And currently, as it stands, there's not been one Nigerian in history with my songwriting prowess or vocal dexterity or even stage presence.

“There has been a lot of great people, especially when you mention the greats like Fela, without any doubt, who happens to be my number one mentor. But as today stands, the present generation did not listen to Fela so you cannot sell that to them, they will tell you "Yeah! Fela was great, Fela was great," but what are they listening to now? Somebody needs to get their attention and tell them: “look over here, this will help your life more. This will help you find calm and help you find peace. And if that's not what is ‘greatest’, then what is?”

Brymo who has a discography of 5 albums, also spoke on a number of topics including his style of music, his social media antics, his forthcoming projects and his legacy.

He spoke about the creative process of his forthcoming album titled Oso and the book he is set to publish in the coming year.

The new project contains 11 tracks, with interesting titles such as 'Money launderers and heartbreakers', 'Time is so kind', and 'God is in your mind.'

<h1>For the second time in 2-years, Eric Many, the record label that signed Nigerian singer,</h1>

<h1>According to a statement sent to Pulse via email, the entertainment company served Runtown the court papers a few days back Suit No: FHC/L/CS/267/2018.</h1>

"Runtown has been deliberately breaching his contract with us (Eric Many) for a while and despite our many appeals to him he has refused to bulge. He went for a show in Las Vegas since January 13th, 2018 and has since decided to withdraw all obligations of his contract. He has steadily been recording an album without the consent and approval of his record label," the statement read.

According to the  filed at the Federal High Court, by Eric Many and release to Pulse, "a Recording Agreement was made between the Plaintiff and the Defendant dated 22nd June 2016, the copyright and other intellectual property and cognate rights and legal positions and protections applicable to all works done by the Defendant during an initial period of two years covered by the Agreement, is vested in the Plaintiff.

"The Plaintiff will rely on a copy of the said Recording Agreement at trial. 7. Under the Agreement, parties recognize and acknowledge the sum of N114,456,670.00 (One Hundred and Fourteen Million, Four Hundredand Fifty Six Thousand,Six Hundred and Seventy Naira) as "Prior Investment", representing the sum invested by the Plaintiff into the development of the Defendant's musical works and records under the defunct 'Artiste Agreement', precursor to the 'Recording Agreement".

In the press statement issued this morning, the label also states that, "he's recording with artists like Del'B without the written approval of the label and without an Eric Many appointee at the point of recording as agreed in our contract. Runtown has also been appearing in venues and collecting appearance fees without the approval of the label and also performing in private shows without the label's consent which contravenes clause 4.4.1 of  his record deal which states that 'the Defendant(Runtown) can only engage in recording, collaborating or performing with other artistes for third parties or other record companies upon proper notification in advance to the Plaintiff. Upon this notification, the Plaintiff would then enter into an agreement with the collaborating artiste or his record company to ensure that the Plaintiff and the Defendant receive proper credit, legal/copyright protection and compensation for the collaborative work".

Runtown's deal with Eric Many is set to expire on June 22, 2018, but according to the label, the singer is still indebted to them.

It reads: 'Hundreds of millions in Naira from the Lamborghini Gallardo super-fast car which he still has to pay back to the label and and also an album that must be released through the right channels. He has been doing numerous collaborations with several artists without getting the written approval of the label and as a result, no royalties have come back to the label from any of these collaborations. He has been warned severally about this on numerous occasions but he refused to listen, so we as the label had to go to court to stop him from these dubious actions'.

The label also claim to have sacked his current manager, Ifeanyi Nwunne saying, "Eric Many has also fired Ifeanyi Nwunne as Runtown's manager. He is more of a drug addict that smokes marijuana round the clock. A new manager will be appointed soonest'."

Eric Many in its statement of claim is seeking the sum of "N65 MILLION being General Damages against the Defendant (Runtown) in favour of the Plaintiff for infringement of the Plaintiff's copyright to the collaborative musical works "Call Me" and "Weekend" both of which featured the Defendant as well as N5 MILLION as costs of this action". "Eric Many has chosen to hold back on anything pertaining to Runtown,till further investigations. This means that anyone who engages Runtown without a written approval from Eric Many, signed by the chairman, will be sued heavily.

This will be the second time in two years that Runtown has had to face off with his label. In May 2016,  he was sued in the Federal High Court by Eric Many on allegations that he signs up, concludes and attends musical shows without the knowledge of the label. Back then, Eric Many also secured a court injunction stopping Runtown from performing as an artiste anywhere in the world. The case was eventually settled out of court.

Pulse has reached out to Runtown, but at the time of this report, we have received no response.

According to a statement sent to Pulse via email, the entertainment company served Runtown the court papers a few days back.

Singer sued by record label again!

This year's edition which began on Friday, March 16 and ends on Saturday March 17, 2018 is extra special because the organizers have added a number of exciting new features to the movement.

The show began at 3pm, where for the first time, four young artists made their mark at the segment called Urban Sessions. Lady Donli, Yinka Bernie, Teezee and Joyce Olong thrilled fans with their live performances.

There was also a masterclass by Brymo, where he taught aspiring musicians the sacred art of songwriting, while Bez joined in with a tutorial session on making music with the guitar.

During the evening, the main stage was activated, by the 13-piece Bantu collective, led by Adebantu. They were backed by more performances from Legend Orlando Julius, Styl-Plus, Dede Mabiaku and M.I Abaga.

The after party for the event rounded off the night with DJ Flava leading guests onto the dance floor.
