Every once in a while, Kate Hudson will drop a little something on Instagram to remind everyone that shes not ~just~ an Academy Award-winning actressshe can sing, too. (Remember that time she completely rocked "Shallow" while doing pilates?) Well, apparently Christmas came early this year in the form of a new singing video from Kate, and it's amazing.

:Its that time of year again and I think Im overdue for a !" she wrote in the caption of her Instagram video. "If you wanna know what I do during a veeeeery long work day into night, this heres a pretty honest preview. (You should see me on night shoots....)."

Okay, well, theres no way you cant click on that. Cut to the video, where Kate is belting out "All I Want for Christmas Is You" in a way that totally gives Mariah Carey a run for her money. (Also, have you ever tried to sing this song? Its effin' hard!)

Not only does Kate have a rockstar-level singing voice, but she gets super into the song, snapping her fingers, spinning around in her chair, and sliding across the floorall while giving the music some serious emotion. She ends the whole thing by accidentally bonking her chair into a table but, ya know, nobodys perfect.

Turns out, Kate knows what shes got with her singing chops. She previously told Womens Health in her December covery story interview that she wants to make a record, adding, "definitely going to make a record." Not only that, but she plans to write some of her own music.

"I'll write what I know," she told the publication. "The music that I write is all over the place. It could be anything from a hip-hop beat to a pop song to a country song. Butwhen I'm writing on the piano, it's clear what genre of music it is."

Kate went on to say that her musical style "sits more from the kinds of music that Adele writes to even Lorde sometimes." Overall, she characterized her music as "mature."

"I write depressing music," she said. "I've made it a habit to always write something that feels uplifting as an exercise, because I just go right to the depressing song."

While Kate clearly has talent, she admitted that shes "terrified" to do her own album. "I'm an actress and actresses don't sing and make records because they're not supposed to," she said. "Then you get to a certain age and you're like, well f*ck what I'm supposed to do? I just want to make a record."
