Daniel Young, author of 'Where To Eat Pizza - a guide to the world's 'best' pizzerias', holding pizza by the crust is wrong.

Holding your pizza that way is completely wrong. The right way to eat pizza is to first fold it into a wallet shape. Young was taught the secrets of eating pizza correctly by Italian pizza chef, Enzo Coccia.

Young has several Youtube videos that show the correct way to eat pizza. In one of the videos, he says "rather than eat pasta al dente and pizza soft, in the Neapolitan way, foreigners learned to do the opposite."

The dough of pizza dough served in British restaurants is often far too hard. Pizza should have a soft base like traditional Neapolitan pizza which are always less tough than British pizzas.

Now, the problem with soft pizza is that the toppings will slide right off if you hold it by the crust. Thus, the best way to eat it is fold it into a wallet shape, the way it is is done in Naples.

Doing it this way ensures that the topping stay on top of the pizza and the sauce does not leak.
