The Kansas City Royals had been set to host the Baltimore Orioles with the home side leading the series 2-0 but persistent rain at Kauffman Stadium forced the game to pushed back a day in Missouri.

The MLB claimed they could not risk player safety, calling off Monday's fixture four hours before the scheduled start.

"We want a game we know we can get through nine innings, hopefully play dry baseball, not risk player safety or uncomfortable fans," MLB senior vice president Peter Woodfork said.
