Ivory Coast Appoints Herve Renard As New Elephants Coach

The former Zambian coach was confirmed later today by the West African nation today Thursday as a replacement for Sabri Lamouchi who quit his post after the first round elimination of the Elephants.

The 45 year-old Frenchman was chosen ahead of other contenders Jose Manuel De Jesus and Frederic Antonetti because of his experience on the African continent culminating from his time with Zambia, leading them to a Nations Cup triumph in 2012 and another Southern African side, Angola.

Part of the Renard's role would be to invigorate the team and fusing it with local talents from the Ivorien league for the two years renewable contract he signed with Cote D' Ivoire; he is also expected to qualify the team to the 2015 Nations Cup.
