The Lakers confirmed it will not pick up the option for the 2016-17 season on Scott's contract.

Scott joined the Lakers in 2014 but finished with a 38-126 record in his two-year tenure.

His final season was a drama-filled one after clashing with the young talent on his team, notably second-overall pick D'Angelo Russell and second-year man Julius Randle.

The team struggled to a 17-65 finish - the worst in their franchise history - as it played in the shadow of Kobe Bryant's looming retirement and several embarrassing off-court issues.
