World football governing body,
Giwa was initially given a five-year ban by the NFF backed by FIFA for trying to force himself into the office as president of the NFF.
Giwa has always claimed that the September 2014 election which put the current president of the NFF Amaju Pinnick in office was faulty but his case was thrown out by FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
A wrong court order sacked Pinnick as NFF boss and ruled Giwa as president. Although that order has been faulted, Giwa has insisted that he is the president of the NFF and has tried forcing himself into office.

This led the Disciplinary committee of the NFF to hand a five-year sanction to Giwa at an extraordinary congress on Thursday, May 12, 2016.
The decision was backed by FIFA.
FIFA in a statement on Tuesday, February 7, added another five years to the initial sanction imposed by the NFF Disciplinary Committee.
The latest sanctions also include four of Giwa’s accomplices, Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani Fema and Johnson Effiong.
“In accordance with art. 136ff of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided to extend the five-year ban from taking part in any kind of football-related activity imposed on the five officials to have worldwide effect,” FIFA said in a statement published on their website.
The relevant member association, as well as CAF, have been duly notified of the chairman’s decision.
