The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Corruption, Mahmood Yakubu has warned politicians or office holders that have embarked on political campaigns several months before election.

Yakubu's warning is coming barely two weeks after the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose declared his intention to run for the President of Nigeria.

Fayose had not only signaled his intention but also launched a campaign organisation to kick off work in seeing to his presidential ambition.

The electoral act gives a 90-day campaign window before any election in Nigeria.

The act also prescribes a fine of N500,000 for anyone found guilty of doing so.
