A Malawian man of God is in the news after he allegedly introduced customized ATM cards with his picture for his church members to use in paying tithes.
Malawi Times reports that Prophet Bushiri who recently bought a G-Wagon SUV for his wife one month after she bought him a Rolls Royce, reportedly introduced the cards during a church service and told his members they were anointed and that anyone who used the card to pay his tithes and offerings will receive some miraculous cash into their bank accounts every month.
Prophet Bushiri who popularly called Major 1, is the founder and General Overseer of the Enlightened Christian Gathering [ECG], and has been known for his flamboyant lifestyle and had been in the news in recent times after he introduced anointed soaps which he said could wash away any sin a person committed during the day with just one bath.
Describing the introduction of the anointed ATM cards, an online television outfit in the country, amonpointtv said:
“Bushiri had, in the past, showed off his private jet, fleet of cars and lavish lifestyle even as some of his church members wallow in abject poverty.
This time around, he has introduced customised Automated Teller Machine cards with his face, for members to pay tithe money into his account.”
A Facebook user, Ntje Ishmael Moholo, who shared photos of the cards wrote on his wall:
“Prophet Bushiri rolls out new ATM cards to make it easy for church followers to pay for tithes automatically every Sunday. What would Jesus say?”
Prophet Bushiri is said to be one of the wealthiest men of God in Africa and has never shied away from showing off his fleet of expensive cars, private jets and lavish lifestyle to the chagrin of his country men and even church members.
