An Edo philanthropist, Chief Mike Ayegbeni Oghiadomhe
Philanthropist gives bursary to 100 indigent Edo students
“The major problem in our country is unemployment, poverty and hunger and we are trying in our own way to give to the less privileged in the society" — Oghiadomhe
One hundred students from Etsako Central local government studying at various tertiary institutions in the country were given the award.
Oghiadomhe said the initiative was started to empower youths who are the future leaders.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the money to solve their academic related problems.
"This money given to you is not for you to buy material things but to buy books and other school materials that will enhance your academic pursuit," he said.
He revealed said in addition to the bursary scheme, his foundation is planning a micro-credit scheme and an entrepreneurship programme for "programmes for women, widow and youth’s empowerment and skill acquisition."
“The major problem in our country is unemployment, poverty and hunger and we are trying in our own way to give to the less privileged in the society."
The Philanthropist added that the scheme will be extended "beyond Edo" soon.
“We are starting from here and in the next five years we will be looking far beyond Edo and we believe that next time, our impact would cut across the country,’’ he said.
Oghiadomhe was once a Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan before his alleged sack exactly a year ago.
