Kaduna based Human Rights activist and Senator-elect, Shehu Sani, has called out the President of the Senate of Nigeria David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark (GCON) in a recent social media post.
Senator-elect Shehu Sani calls out David Mark on Social Media
"Senator David Mark visited my secondary school when he was a Governor and I was a student; Both of us are in the senate now under different parties, differing political ideology and different political pedigree," Senator-elect, Shehu Sani, wrote.
Sani, who ran under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to defeating Senator Mohammed Mukhtar Aruwa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win the Kaduna Central Senatorial seat, went back in time in the post shared on Facebook and Twitter.
"Senator David Mark visited my secondary school when he was a Governor and I was a student; Both of us are in the senate now under different parties, differing political ideology and different political pedigree," Sani wrote.
learnt that the secondary school Sani referred to is the Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State.
At the time, Mark was the Governor of Niger State, an office he held from January 1984 to 1986 as a Brigadier General.
The senator-elect’s post has been drawing comments since he posted it.
"The young shall grow. Such is life! But honestly, Senator David Mark had benefited immensely from the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I do hope he is grateful to her," Richard Oluwakayode Bamidele wrote.
"The Senate is a house for ripe minds. Marks should saluted for not defecting to your party," Khalid Imam commented.
"We need men with strong mind like the two of you. Age is not a barrier so long one is still active."
Senator Mark has been the President of the Senate of Nigeria since June 6, 2007 and my stand down for another person to take leadership since the PDP lost its long-held majority power in the 2015 elections.
