For some, it is a thing of joy to find out that they’re being posted to states of preferred choice. But for others, well, they're left with no choice but to accept it the way it came.

After all, the purpose of the scheme is to help create an opportunity where one can be of services to his/her father’s land and not a particular state.

So, irrespective of the category you happen to find yourself, there are some certain things that you will need during the three weeks period of camping.

And because we know that the importance of these things cannot be overemphasized, we've decided to let you know that it is a must for you to go camping with them.

Here are eight things every youth corper must take to orientation camp:

1. Call-up letter

If you don't want to be treated like someone who is in camp to impersonate another, you must remember to go with your call-up latter, because it is the only evidence to show that you’re a corper.

Try as much as you can to keep it safe and neat. And please do NOT laminate it; just remember to make photocopies of it as you go.

2. Photocopies of your documents and copies of passport photographs

There are documents that will be required from you when you get to the camp. Examples of such documents are your statement of result and school ID Card.

It is, therefore, advisable for you to make up to twelve copies of every necessary document just in case. Remember to come along with the originals as well.

In addition, copies of your passport photographs should be with you as well. And because they will be needed at almost every registration point, it is better for you to make up to twenty to thirty copies.

3. Waist pouch/bag

If you ask those with experience, they will tell you that this is one of the most important things you should take along with you to camp. And this is because it is very essential.

It is your waist pouch that will serve as your bank and locker for important things like phones, money, ID card, keys, ATM cards etc.

4. Torchlight

Remember to go camping with a torchlight because most or in fact all camps do not give light except at a specific time of the day.

You'll need it more especially at night when you need to use the bathroom, early in the morning when preparing for morning drills and meditations.

5. Round neck white t-shirts and white short.

Yes, you would be given two pairs of white t-shirts at camp.

But considering the fact that you will be spending three weeks and allowed to wear only white t-shirt and white short all through, in most cases, it is, therefore advisable for you to go camping with your own.

There is no telling the numbers that you will need; just remember that white gets dirty easily and you might not have the time for laundry most times.

6. White sneakers and socks

The white sneakers are a very important part of your camp outfit. You will be given a pair customized for NYSC, but they are usually of low quality. So it would be better if you could get your own extra pair and white socks too.

7. Mosquito net

You don't want to fall sick from malaria while in camp. Remember to go with ropes that will enable you to tie it.

8. Money

Just in case you don't know, you won’t be allowed to leave camp during the three weeks period. That meaning you’ll need some good amount of money to keep body and soul together while you're in camp.
