Pope Francis says he may consider ordaining married men!
After many many years of only ordaining young, single men, the Catholic may soon be considering ordaining married men.
Thus, it comes as a huge surprise that Pope Francis may be open towards ordaining married men as opposed to the traditional way!
He dropped this shocking revelation in a new interview with a German newspaper called Die Zeit.
Referring to married men, the Pontiff said, "We must think about whether viri probati are a possibility."
However, Pope Francis was quick to add that if this happens, these ordained married priests, who must be tested and be of good character may only work in isolated areas.
“Then we have to consider what tasks they could perform, for instance in isolated communities,” the pontiff said.
He also spoke on the growing reduction in the number of priests saying it is bad for the Catholic church “because a Church without the Eucharist doesn’t have strength - the Church makes the Eucharist, but the Eucharist also makes the Church.”
Pope Francis also encouraged people to pray, and work "with young people who are seeking orientation," in order to combat this issue.
On the controversial subject of celibacy amongst priests, he quickly stated that removing clerical celibacy is not an option because it would not be “a solution.”
There is no doubt that these new comments will definitely get the Pope in trouble with conservative Catholics.
