Armed robbers kill pastor in Benin
Godfrey Agbonwaneten was shot dead while he was in his house by armed robbers who broke into his house.
Godfrey Agbonwaneten, who was in charge of Evidence of the Gospel Church, Oko Central branch was shot dead at his residence at Okhunmwun community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to reports, the robbers were said to have robbed several houses in the community before they entered Godfrey’s house after pulling down the burglary proof of the house.
According to a report by The Nations Newspaper, wife of the victim, Julie, said the incident occurred at about 2:30am when her husband woke her up and informed her that robbers were in the next building.
“The next thing we hear was that they were breaking our window. I didn’t know when my husband went to the room and I hear gunshot. I rushed to the room and saw my husband covered with blood,” Julie told the newspaper.
The body has been deposited at the mortuary.
