Why failure can be beautiful
Do you know that Col Sanders’ chicken recipe was rejected 1009 times! 1009!!
I remember the few times (well, maybe more than few) I came home with a “ Failing report card “, my father was always livid. Worse still, my immediate senior sister’s report cards always beamed with “A”. Yes! Her results made mine look terrible, maybe worse than it actually was, sef.
What we don’t seem to understand is failures are like “diamonds in the rough “. They look ugly, until they are polished. Failure that will be made beautiful requires auditing, patience, persistence, and dogmatism. How many times have you failed in a situation that you so willingly want to “ throw in the towel”?
Do you know that Col Sanders’ chicken recipe was rejected 1009 times! 1009!! What will make a man attempt to offer his product 1009 times? He just refused to accept failure. Today, almost the whole world knows Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). What if he gave up after third attempt? Would you blame him? Some of us were rejected once and that is it! The guy betrayed you so “ all men are dogs” and you don’t want to be in a relationship ever! ( remember,1009 times!).
You didn’t make Math in your WASCCE and so for you “education is over”! You have come to this conclusion after just two attempts?? this is a man -1009 times ! No be moi-moi!
Any one, who has been to the United States of America, has most likely shopped at Macys. The mega clothes store is the baby of R.H. Macy. Mr Macy came up with this idea after seven attempts that failed woefully.
These are people who refused to take no for an answer and so see failure as an opportunity to try again.
What about situations where you are completely written off? His boss fired Walt Disney because he lacked “imagination and good ideas “! Imagine that!
Can you even imagine Orlando, Florida, without Disneyland?
We cannot even mention inventions in Physics, without making mention of Albert Einstein. He didn’t speak till he was seven years old. His teachers concluded that he was mentally handicapped and very slow. He was later withdrawn from school and failed his entrance examinations for the Polytechnic.
Einstein is a celebrated Nobel Prize winner today.
This is why I believe that failure can be beautiful, if you see it as what it can be, a temporary setback for a successful comeback. It will all end in praise!
