Spicy food that heals (shrimp turmeric rice)

As soon as I read about how healthy turmeric can be, I began experimenting with it the kitchen.

One of the experiments yielded my new favorite….Old Good Turmeric Rice mixed with shrimps and eggs!

We must first know that Turmeric is a spice and research has shown it to help heal cough, wounds, arthritis and cholesterol level disorders.

Most importantly for me, it boosts the immune system especially in kids.

All we need to do is incorporate it more in our diets….

Recipe: Shrimp Turmeric Rice

Time: 20mins

Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shrimps
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 medium sized bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 Eggs (beaten)
  • 1 bouillon cube (maggi)
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric

Method

  • Melt butter in saucepan
  • Add onion and garlic and cook till onions are clear
  • Stir in beaten eggs and scramble.
  • Add rice, turmeric and combine thoroughly.
  • Season with bouillon cubes, salt, pepper and add shrimps
  • Leave to cook for about 15mins.
  • Serve and enjoy.
