1. Wash lentils with plenty of water and place in a clean pressure pot. Cover with generous water. If you do not have a pressure pot, it will take quite a while to cook the lentils.
2. Add black pepper, stock cube and leave to cook for about 20 minutes.

3. When lentils are soft enough, add chopped carrots, onions and palm oil. Add salt to taste. Cook for another 10 minutes.
4. Add green peppers and cover for another 5 minutes.
5. Stir and turn off heat.
Your lentil porridge is ready! Serve with plantains or fried yams.
