Event To Hold In Lagos

On 19th August, 2014, Photographers & Lovers of the art will gather at Kongi Gallery Lagos, to join others in celebrating the world photography day.

Ahead of the second edition of the event, talented photographer, Yemi Royal Akala said this year’s theme is The role of photography in national development.

Akala, who started the Nigerian edition of the global event last year, said the success of the maiden was enough encouragement for the sequel.

He said, ‘‘It had never been celebrated in Nigeria so I got in touch with the international body and indicated my interest in holding the event in Nigeria. They later helped with support and materials. Last year was the first time we organised it. It was a huge success despite the low publicity. We had over 100 photographers as participants.’’

He also promised that the organisers would make the second edition better than the first one in terms of planning and organisation.
