Tiwa Savage is gearing up for the release of her sophomore album “RED”, and the listening party which I attended was packed with a lot of revelation.

First, this album represents more than just a career move for the Mavin singer. It’s her re-introduction into the game, after taking time out to bring into this world, a little bundle of joy. There have been calls from many quarters about her relegation from the top diva spot, with Yemi Alade flying high, and Seyi Shay gaining grounds.

But Tiwa has taken it in stride, her vision trained on the task before her. The “RED” album was recorded during her gestation period, with Don Jazzy showing immense support and inspiration throughout the process. The albumwas earlier scheduled to be released on the same day she gave birth, but that was changed due to undisclosed reasons.

The full Mavin house was present, with everyone showing support for the first lady of their crop. DJ BigN was the man for the night, turning up in full regalia, to dictate proceedings from his console.

Tiwa was resplendent in a pink gown, as she took to the stage to begin the presentation of her new sounds to the crowd. Aided with host duties by her friend and OAP, Fade Ogunro, there was an air of happiness and positive about the night. A million hugs were shared, laughter rang all around, drinks flowed, and artistry was anticipated.

What did Tiwa have in store for us, and for Nigeria at large? What direction would the new project go?

Tiwa began with thanks to everyone before starting off with the first track off the album. It’s titled ‘Adura’. Track 1 had a lot of prayer in it, as the singer acknowledged the role of a Higher Being in her existence and thriving. 2015 has been good to her with two milestones achieved; Child and album. Family and career. Thank heaven for favour.

From then the tracks came in thick and hot. Tiwa is an artiste for all seasons, and this album is a true reflection of her craft.

For dance, there’s ‘Ovation’ with Olamide, love and heartache and be accessed on the reggae-heavy ‘Make time’ which featured rapper Iceberg Slim. Conscious vibes come through on ‘Say it’, sex and all its moves are represented on ‘Go down’, and D’Prince made a fantastic cameo on ‘Before Nko’.

Other star features include the remix to her hit song, ‘Keys to the city’, featuring Jamaican reggae star Busy Signal, and a final track, ‘ Bad’ featuring Wizkid.
