For anyone born in the 80s or early 90s, Ogholi’s song presents a moment of nostalgia. ‘Happy birthday’ was played at kids’ parties back in the day.

“Uh yea, I wish you happy birthday,

Uh yea, very very many happy returns”, the reggae singer belts out.

Once you heard this, you knew it was time to cut the cake. The celebration themed song was released in 1988 under premier Music.

Evi-Edna was discovered by former music and TV producer Emma Ogosi. Her reggae rhythms were played across Nigeria in the late 80s and early 90s. The vocalist also played the guitar. This talent earned her the nickname ‘Njoku reggae' from fans.

In 1987 she released her debut album titled “My Kind of Music”. Some of her other singles include ‘Jealousy’, ‘Ririovara’ and ‘Look before you cross’.
