Ever since Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in March, fans have been eagerly awaiting to see how Deadpool will be introduced into the Marvel universe. But while we're going to have to wait a little while to find out the future of the so-called "merc with a mouth," one of our favorite action stars just might have new role in the franchise's next film.

Robert Liefeld co-created Deadpool, and he's worked on Marvel comics like The New Mutants and X-Force. After watching Hobbs & Shaw , Liefeld decided to see if he could get Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to join the Deadpool world. And while the shoutout might seem random, it actually makes perfect sense. Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw were directed by the same personDavid Leitchand Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds had a hilarious cameo in Hobbs & Shaw.

Liefeld shared a photo on Instagram that featured The Rock in a collage next to a Garrison Kane action figure. Liefeld wrote, "Dearest @therock based on reports of outstanding chemistry between you and a familiar friend, I believe the next logical step is for you to join the Marvel Universe as Garrison Kane in a future Deadpool installment."

Dearest @therock based on reports of outstanding chemistry between you and a familiar friend, I believe the next logical step is for you to join the Marvel Universe as Garrison Kane in a future Deadpool installment. Youre a natural and Kane is already celebrated by millions of comics fans who have thrilled to his adventures since I first introduced him in X-Force #2! Your pal, Rob! Liefeld also shared the post on Twitter, which is where Johnson eventually responded to him, and he seemed interested in the role.

Dearest Rob, thank you amigo. Its true, in @HobbsAndShaw , I have insanely outstanding chemistry with our familiar friend. Since you created the characters, how does one Garrison Kane get alone with one ? https://t.co/1Z58qbiQp8 Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock)

Liefeld then said that he's definitely looking into getting Johnson into Deadpool's next film.

1000% guilty of looking at ways to get THE MAN into the gig!!! https://t.co/CIYJFObM71 robliefeld (@robertliefeld)

To recap, Garrison Kane is a member of Cable's " Clan Chosen ," which a group of mutant heroes who fight the super villian Apocalypse. And as Movieweb reports, Kane lost his limbs in battle, but he was later given cybernetic replacements.

We can definitely picture Johnson as a crime fighting mutant, and with any luck, he'll soon be announced as an official part of the cast.
