This is because these kind of tyres often lead to accidents, which could lead to the loss of lives and properties.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Alhaji Ahmed Hassan, a Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM) of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said: “We have discovered recently that there are many causes of road traffic crashes, prominent among them, the use of fake and substandard tyres."

Motorists were also advised to against drunk driving, as this is another major cause of accidents on highways.

The FRSC is currently on a nationwide tyre monitoring and surveillance exercise.
