Kane held tight to the smuggled knife. He quietly tiptoe to the Chief warden's office. The place was unguard. A perfect time to revenge the pain of his seven years incarceration on the same man responsible for his birth and present state.By birth, Kane was a born prisoner. A person with nothing to lose. His life story revolve around his birth in the women wing of Kiri-kiri maximum prison and his eventual ascension to the rank of senior prisoner in the same prison. And he is only seventeen. His mum, a convict was convicted of attempted murder, the same crime Kane is serving time for.Growing up in prison was tough, Kane was exposed to the rigors of life at an early age. His life was simple until he heard the confession of his mum on her death bed.Her mum had not been tried. In fact, her stay in the prison was as a result of her resistant to be raped by the chief warden and resultant to self defense in order to protect what was left of her dignity. She was only a house help, not helped when she needed it most.Kane was determined to resolve the past and avenge his Mama's death. He still miss his mum, he miss seeing her in those faded blue prisoner's wear. Although, she was imprison, she was free. Free from the touch of her defiler.Kane on the other hand is not free. He had failed in his first attempt to fulfil the oath he had sworn to himself - to kill the man that ruined his mother's life. He must not fail again.He quietly open the Chief Warden's door, his gaze fixated on the hapless now greying man who also happen to be his father. The defiler and murderer of his mother.For the first time in seven years, Kane was torn between avenging his mother and killing the only parent he has left.He took a step back, stream of tears crawling out of his eyes. He dart at him with the knife in his hand. What was left was stabbing him. But he couldn't. But the man died anyway. From heart attack and unaccounted sins from his past. He was hypertensive, with no heir but Kane.Nobody knew he fathered Kane. Nobody knew Kane killed his father.Kane remained in the prison.
