You see, when I was younger,
I had my dreams,
Engineers I’d admire and start to beam...
Slowly I grew up and became a teen,
A young adult I had become and my dreams became dim...
I thought and pondered as to what could make me be
Then I realized my people loved being glee…
I had something no one could hinder
And guess what, I decided a singer…
I remember that day, 16 I was
Cooking silently, in the kitchen I was
Loudly came my phones ringer
And it was Tosin my fun giver
I picked up the call without a smile
And there was a joyful Tosin talking all the while
“BABE YOU DON GET ADMISSION” na wetin she talk
NO! na wetin she shout
{pardon me for being a lyrical tout}
I shouted and danced
“UNILAG GO HEAR AM” she said to me
“BUT BABE E GET ONE PROBLEM”
“NA WETIN BE THAT?” as before my heart ticks
“THE COURSE WEY DEM GIVE YOU NA MATHEMATICS”
I reminisce now after the news
Some months later
University of Lagos class of Eleven
Black and White everyone wore
In odds and evens
Though some of us walked about clueless.
I remember that day how I looked for my Mother..
I think I cried because back then, I didn’t care less
The Music band came and I didn’t bother… [no, I didn’t]
Because that day was MY DAY,
MY MATRICULATION DAY!!!
Year 3, Ah!!! Memorable 20 Fourteen
A new lecturer walked in
The youngest I had seen,
He said his name and I think I saw a sparkle
Oh! Don’t get me wrong his shirt was bright I mean
Dr. Hall--- oh no, I almost spilled
24 he was, just 5 away from me
Bobo, sorry Dr. could teach in English
French and even Latin
9hours as a student he studied
no wonder he was lean.
Not that his class was the best
Or I understood anything
But he just made me day dream
Of being just with, sorry like him
To cut the long story short
We wrote the exam, he graded
And LINEAR ALGEBRA just wouldn’t let go!!
Head Of Department Cup (H.O.D’S CUP)
Me… Health Officer
Red Jersey No. 99
After 3 years of failure we won oh
Yeah just like you guessed one o
We just had to have an after party
Someone suggested we rocked the jerseys
I laughed and gave my famous straight face harshly
At 8 that evening we all met
Laughing and smiling as the victors we were
Lol!!! I laughed loudest because I stole a medal
(Yes, who told you running to save lives wasnt a sport)
9 o clock, we started the game
“I DARE YOU TO KISS FAITH” somebody said
I ran to the bushes at a speed I couldn’t name
{Bolt literally had nothing on me}I sha drank the drink sha…
Of course I couldn’t do it…
Ha! Ha! Ha! Again till 11pm
Slowly wading on my bed into sleep…
AHHHHH!!!!
I saw Seyi smiling sheepishly at me
With LONDON DRY GIN in other words OGOGORO!!!!
Funmi beside me proofreading with a grin
Deborah preparing to cook as usual BEANS!!
Benue girl with nothing more to type

Typing this writeup/poem/essay…
Hoping to win, actually, desperate to win
Soon I’ll graduate and hopefully they’ll be more stories
But till then, this let me win.
I wish you good tidings
And I’m hoping I win…
