"A politician or a magician?" [Writer's contest 2]

For a man of 72 years PMB is pretty strong and active he won the president of Nigeria after contesting four times losing thrice and winning  the fourth time, he might easily be the best president Nigeria has ever had, he made it obvious that corruption would not be condoned during his administration e g of these includes, The Declaration of assets and using a single account for the government “MONEY”

After just 100+ days in office, Nigerians have began to voice out their opinions, We Nigerians generally have no patience, Some citizens believe that he hasn’t performed up to d required status or level, thus d nickname and twitter has tag #babagoslow, we mustn’t also forget that the promises he made to Nigerians include change through growth, corruption and security there is truly much to be done but it shouldn’t be rushed either.

We must also note that  the previous administration was noted for mismanagements of funds and corruption amidst others it would take time to gain what looks like sanity to the position and office, Considering the  previous government, how they left  public offices he has to understand the situation at hand prioritize his agendas and view  the available resources,.

Personally, I believe the standards expected of him even before he was sworn into office was ridiculous  high, Nigerians were pretty much expecting magic, I  was in school during the elections, I can remember following the proceeds of the  election in school, everybody was ecstatic like a messiah was coming don’t get me wrong I am not saying he is not capable  he is, but  he is certainly not  a magician .

Nigerians were expecting instant change, like he was just going to snap his hand and everything would be better, or he was going to wave his magic wand and everything would be restored, he also could have reduced expectations for immediate actions in the first few weeks of his presidency by clearly stating that he intended to take his time, that he wouldn’t rush into any projects or decision making.

His media team also on the other hand has done a poor job of conveying the significance of the actions he has been taking, it is important for our president and his media team to demonstrate how his actions In the long run are to be beneficial to Nigerians and interested investors.

There is also the issue of him to be alleging appointing only northerners into positions ,true he is the president of Nigeria and not president of the north but I believe it is a better Nigeria we all wish and pray for if he likes he should appoint all of them from one village as long as they do what is expected of them, I don’t think there is a problem with this ,tribalism has just made Nigerians very wary.

In his 100 days  electricity in Nigeria has  generally improved even without a power minister, Kaduna refinery would start saving Nigeria $5.3 dollars ,our reliance on fuel importation thus would have dropped by 40%  also without a power minister ,appointment of new bosses for NNPC and NCC and the immigration services.

And suddenly  it feels good to be a Nigerian.
