Obasanjo made the comment on Monday, July 25, 2016, after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Punch reports.

The former president also urged Nigerians to ensure that  only men of integrity are elected into the National Assembly from henceforth.

The House of Representatives is currently embroiled in controversy following revelations that some members, including Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, allegedly padded the budget with billions of naira.

The claims were made by Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin who was recently removed from his position as Chairman of the Appropriation Committee.
