On Sunday night, May 1, 2016, Joe Boy emerged the new national lightweight boxing champion after defeating Nurudeen at the GOtv Boxing Night 7, which held at the National Stadium, Lagos.

With both boxers giving their best as the crowd cheered to the hugely anticipated bout, Joe Boy, who once defeated Fatai by a knockout, had to endure plenty of punishment from his nimbler and clearly better opponent right up till the end of the 12-round contest.

While a bloodied face Prince went home unhappy, Joe Boy smiled home with a N1m prize as well as the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy-for the second time.

The much anticipated fight, which was organised by Flykite Productions and bankrolled by GOtv, was transmitted live to 47 African countries.
