Mr Jabba & Legend Harry check into Heartbreak Hotel with ‘True Love’

Mr Jabba returns with ‘True Love,’ a laid-back Afropop/alté duet with his favourite pair, Legend Harry, out August 21. The single is the genesis of Heartbreak Hotel, a joint EP landing October 2 — the duo’s second body of work together.

Sung in pidgin and English, ‘True Love’ follows two men each finding their way through heartbreak. Mr Jabba gives everything and still finds it isn’t enough; Legend Harry walks away from a love weighed down by conditions. The hook says it plainly: “Said she wants some true love, and I gave her true love.” It’s a warm, groove-forward record — more bittersweet swing than sad song — and a new chapter of the duo’s era, built on honesty over performance.

A companion visualiser for ‘True Love,’ directed by DM Visuals, follows on September 11. Built around the creative theme of ‘echoes of presence,’ the film moves through quiet, intimate interiors and favours restraint over spectacle — a glass left behind, a mirror that holds more than it should, a room that still feels shared — letting the emotion live in what lingers rather than what’s said.

“Heartbreak Hotel is an honest body of work inspired by our real-life experiences in love and relationships, and True Love is the most personal for me; that was the genesis,” Mr Jabba says on the upcoming project.

Mr Jabba (AbdulJabbar Momoh) doesn’t really do anything by half measure. Hailing from Edo State with royal roots to match, he is pushing his grand vision called the Jabbaverse, running on Sound, Culture and Tech. Following his last single “Ooh Baby (Jollof).” Heartbreak Hotel is the next stop, with his debut album, Sons of Medinat, already waiting in the wings — a bigger story about culture, life, hustle, growth and love.
