Yemi Alade beats Seyi Shay to 'Best Female Act'
Yemi Alade has won the award as the best female artiste in Africaat the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards.
The Nigerian star was got announced on the night, beating Seyi Shay, Bucie, Busiswa and Vanessa Mdee.
This honour crowns a successful year for Yemi Alade, which has seen her catapult to the top of African music with her hit single ‘Johnny’, before capitalising on that to churn our more hit songs, and an album, ‘King of Queens’.
The award which held last night (July 18) in Durban, South Africa also saw other Nigerian acts come out successful.
The duo of Peter and Paul Okoye, won two awards on the big night. They were recipients of the 'Best Group’ award, beating South Africa’s house sensations, Beatenberg, Kenya’s power musicians, Sauti Sol, and Angola’s B4.
Nigerian pop star Davido, was also recognized on the night as Africa’s Best Male Artiste, beating Wizkid, South Africa’s AKA, Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz, and Ghana’s Sarkodie,
