Travellers say these are the best places to visit in the US this year

Do you plan on visiting the United States this year? Then you may want to consider the following locations.

Lonely Planet has put together a list of places to visit in the United States, and not surprisingly Philadelphia which is the country's only World Heritage City tops the list of destinations.

Speaking on the list, Rebecca Warren, Lonely Planet's Eastern US destinations editor said "there are so many amazing places to visit in the U.S. every year, but what distinguishes this list is the timeliness,"

Each year, Lonely Planet's editors ask their traveling authors and writers to nominate places around the United States where big anniversaries, festivals and events and exciting new cultural additions make them "must-see" spots to visit.
