According to a report by The Cable Newspaper, 22 out of the 36 Nigerian states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reported a significant drop in their domestic debt stock, signaling an optimistic change in the fiscal landscape.

While this spells great news for said states, it conversely denotes that some states experienced an increase in their debt levels.

The Cable's report reveals that 22 states, alongside the FCT, collectively achieved a substantial reduction in their domestic debt stock, amounting to an impressive N176.3 billion ($195 million).

Data from the Debt Management Office (DMO) underscores an encouraging trend, indicating an aggregate reduction of up to N74.64 billion in domestic debt stock across all 36 states during the same period.
