For Nigerian music, this month is the climax of all music activities. Sure we have had a number of amazing songs, awards, and intrigue to last a lifetime, but we are not done yet. September promises to be everything you will ever hope for and more.

First, the volume of music that will be shunted into the mainstream market will triple. This is what I call the ‘Naija Ember Rush’. It is a phenomenon common with Nigeria. Everything occurrence within the months of September, October, November and December have to be injected with extra zest. The year is almost at its end, so why not strike the iron until it is hot.

In music this phenomenon is experienced too. Many top acts spend the entire year working on their material, and flood these four months with the child of their brains. Many even begin work in these months and wait for 365 days for it to come again, before entering the market with a final product.

Away from the singles, albums, which crown the creative endeavours of musicians are mostly released in these months. The reason is simple. Come the holidays, concerts would spring up all over the world to spice up the season, and with new banging materials, artistes who have relevant music will be smiling with appearance and performance fees…tax-free in Nigeria.
