A mobile court has sentenced nine commercial drivers to 30 days imprisonment in Benin, Edo state.

However, they were offered an option of N20, 000.00 fine by the Presiding Magistrate, Aizegbemhi Williams, The Nation reports.
According to the Public Relations Officer, DSP Osifo Abiodun, this is to prevent other drivers from disobeying traffic rules and regulations.
He added that the recent campaign against the violation of traffic rules has led to the Police impounding 46 vehicles and the arrest of the drivers.

The convicts were found guilty of disobeying Section 37 of the Edo State Traffic Management Laws 2010.
