I’ll return to my village if I lose elections, President says

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that he’ll return to his village if he loses the upcoming general elections.

The President however added that he would not lose the elections, which are scheduled to hold on March 28.

“If by default somebody wins the election, of course, I will go back to my village. The country is not my father’s estate,” he said.

Jonathan also denied reports that he had intensified the battle against terrorist group, Boko Haram because of the elections.

He attributed the reports to ignorance and the need for the opposition to say the opposite of what the ruling party says.

“In a political environment, if one party, particularly the ruling party, is going to the left, the opposition would have to go to the right. They must find something. They must have something to tell the people,” Jonathan said.

The President also stated that Nigeria had acquired 65-70% of the weapons needed to fight the group.
