Ask the average blogger what their blogging challenges are. Amongst massive traffic generation, getting comments and other forms of engagement, making money from their blogs, becoming a consistent blogger remains one of them. If many bloggers had the consistency that they should have, their blogs would not only move forward but make more money.
Now, blogging consistency isn't a call to blog several times a day or even daily. Becoming a consistent blogger is creating a blog post schedule and sticking by it. So, we assume you have decided to blog three times in a week, you create a schedule around it, determine what days of the week you want to post and then you stick by it. That's blogging consistency.
Here is what consistency in blogging does for you as a blogger :
- -it makes your blog readers trust you more
- - it helps you keep up with the blogging momentum
- - it heightens expectancy on the part of your blog readers
- - brands take you seriously
How do you become consistent? How do you get to churn out articles on your blog as promised?
1. Take your blog as a business
Until you take your blog seriously, you are never going to be a consistent blogger. Your blog can take you places, earn you extra income, in fact, bring you big income, land you your dream job. Anything!
You need to treat your blog like you would treat your business. Give your blog the attention that it needs. If you want to draw up a plan of how much time you want to spend on your blog, fine. If you won't give it business priority, at least treat your blog like a side hustle. You never really treat your side hustle like it doesn't matter, do you?
2. Schedule posts ahead
Here is what's important in the field of blogging - scheduling. Many unforseen situations happen. Sometimes this just helps you stay organized and not miss a blog post day. For any blogging platform, there is always the option to post at a later time.
If you are serious about becoming a consistent blogger and you can rarely predict your week, prepare posts for the following week ahead, insert images, do all the research you need to, optimize them, and get them scheduled.
3. Openly discuss your blog schedule
Openly sharing how much posts your readers should expect per day, per week or per month binds you. If you are one of integrity, you would not want to slip up too much. Once or twice is okay, but failing to deliver everytime brings down your blogging reputation.
There has to be a genuine reason why you can't show up. They have to be reasons your blog readers can understand and appreciate you for. So, tell them, let them know. You can announce this in the 'about' section. You can make this into a post. Just let them know how much of you they are going to be seeing.
4. Write everyday or almost everyday
Writing everyday isn't the same as blogging everyday. Just make it an habit to write something on your note pad or jotter. You are training yourself to becoming a ready writer.
You can incorporate this into your mornings or evenings. Whichever way suits you best will make this more productive and fun. Write something; an idea, a full article, drafts, points, anything. Overtime, writing will become very effortless. Many of the consistent writers and bloggers you see today made writing an habit and it stuck as second nature.
5. Have blog post backups
No matter what type of blogging you do, there will always be blog titles and ideas that are not seasonal and can be published anytime. That is why writing everyday helps to have many posts to fall back on. All you need to do is go and edit or fine tune or research more and finally develop them.
Store these on your phone or on your blog. All you need to do is save as drafts, that's all and you are covered. Be careful not to leave your drafts on for too long. Sometimes stalling ideas makes you lose all the vibe you started with. Make an habit of finishing your drafts as soon as you can.
So, here we go. Becoming a consistent blogger isn't as herculean after all. All you need to do is just make a little adjustments to your blogging lifestyle and you are set. Cheers to becoming the consistent blogger you have always longed to be.
