With a career starring over two decades, 2face Idibia has marked a personal highlight of 40 years with a concert.
Tagged ‘Fortyfied’, the concert was planned as a celebration of all the achievements, and career highlights of the veteran pop star. The event held at the Eko Hotel, Lagos, on Sunday, September 20, 2015.
Fortyfied concert attracted all the stellar names in the industry, with the veterans performers such as OJB, DJ Jimmy JATT, and also, the best of the contemporary Nigerian acts. Wizkid, Skales, Waje, Darey Art Alade, Shaydee, Cobhams Asuquo, M.I Abaga, DJ Neptune, and many more were present.
The event was hosted by ace comedian, Basketmouth, who thrilled the guests with anecdotes and a classy brand of humor.
Being the celebration of a landmark age and achievement, it was expected that his kids and baby mamas will be present to support and show him love. His wife and mother of two, Annie was the only woman present, who has had kids with him. Sumbo Ajaba Adeoye and Pero Adeniyi were conspicuously absent.
2face attended the concert in the company of his wife, Annie Idibia.2face chose a modern traditional look with velvet loafers and plum cap, looking all sorts of dashing, the couple were picture perfect. The pretty wife of the music legend chose a glittering sequin detailed floor length number with plunging neckline to hit the show to support her husband 2face Idibia to celebrate his 40th birthday in style.
There were a number of performances on the night, with a number of stars chosen to perform 2face’s greatest hits and his collaborations with them as a tribute to the musical brilliance of the stars.
One of the stand-out performances at the 2face Idibia‘s #Fortyfied concert came from ace music producer Cobhams Asuquo. Cobhams performed two of 2face’s songs ‘Dance Floor’ and ‘One love’, but his rendition of the song was absolutely emotional. He brought everyone close to tears with his depth and purity in his delivery.
D’banj made a grand entry with the ‘Harmonica’, an instrument with which he launched his career. He delivered a stellar performance that even got his former partner and Mo’hit boss, Don Jazzy on his feet dancing.
The Kokomaster brought back old memories which forced 2face to plead on behalf of the fans and for the sake of people looking up to them to make one more hit song together.
“Don Jazzy and D’banj, abeg make una do one more song, just one…. I take God beg una” 2face pleaded. D’banj in response said “Sure! It’s going to happen.” Although Don Jazzy didn’t respond to the plea.
With stellar performances from top acts like D’banj, Olamide, M.I, Banky W, Patoranking and others, the celebrant 2face Idibia finally hit the stage for the first time at 1:23am. 2face performed duets with 9ice, Vector, Wizkid and Victor Olaiya.
