Wife of terrorist commander runs back to Sambisa Forest

The 25 year-old is one of those rescued from Sambisa Forest last year after a military raid on the terrorist's base.

Rescued captives of Boko Haram, especially women, have reportedly found it hard to reintegrate into society

After her rescue, she was sent to a deradicalisation programme where she was put under rehabilitation for nine months until February.

According to her sister who cried out, Aisha managed to pack some of her clothes and escape with her child who was fathered by a terrorist commander identified as Mamman Nur.

The sister, 22-year-old Bintu Yerima, spoke to Thomson Reuters Foundation, "Before she left … she had received a phone call from a woman who was with her (in the programme)"

"The woman said that she had returned to the Sambisa forest."

She added that Aisha's mobile phone has been switched off after several calls had gone unasnswered.

Aisha had reportedly told the Foundation earlier this year that other women kidnapped by the sect were given to her as slaves because she was married to an influential commander.
