Two 18-year-old boys, Wale Ojupon and Daniel Emeka, along with a 30-year-old man, Seyi Egbonwan, have been sent to prison custody by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for allegedly stabbing a police officer, Constable Abimbola Adesoji, to death on July 25, during a riot at Ajah area of the state.

The Police prosecutor in the case, ASP Eshiet Eshiet, told the court that the offences committed by the three accused contravened Sections 517, 70, 516, 317 and 309 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Oyindamola Ogala, refused to take the plea of the accused persons, and ordered that they be remanded in prison custody pending the advise of the State Director of Public Prosecution, as her court does not have the jurisdiction to try murder cases.
