The 2024 Summer Olympics are underway in Paris. After years of preparation, the global event is set to cost the city <a href="https://wallethub.com/blog/olympics-fun-facts/22356">over $8.2 billion</a>.

Over 10,000 athletes have spent the last three years training, competing, and qualifying for this year's events, and they represent a diverse pool of competitors from around the world.
