Facebook's former security chief says Mark Zuckerberg has too much power and needs to step down as CEO (FB)
Alex Stamos , Facebook's former security chief, suggested Tuesday that Mark Zuckerberg should hire someone to replace him as the company's CEO, according to CNBC .
Mark Zuckerberg should step aside for a new CEO at Facebook, Alex Stamos, the company's former chief security officer, said on Tuesday, according to CNBC.
The move would curtail Zuckerberg's power and would allow him to focus on what he likes best developing the company's products, Stamos said at the Collision Conference in Toronto, CNBC reported. It would also be a sign that he's serious about changing the culture at Facebook, he said.
"There's a legit argument that he has too much power," Stamos said, according to CNBC. "He needs to give up some of that power. If I was him, I would go hire a new CEO for the company."
Facebook and Zuckerberg have been under fire for much of the last three years, first for allowing the social networking company's service to be used to spread Russian misinformation and propaganda during the 2016 US presidential election campaign and then for a series of privacy and security mishaps last year, including the Cambridge Analytica fiasco.
