It now sounds like the Giants will hold onto Odell Beckham Jr

Teams around the league now reportedly believe they won't be able to pry Odell Beckham Jr. from the Giants in time for the draft.

  • Despite previous reports that the New York Giants were open to trading Odell Beckham Jr., other teams do not expect the Giants to part with their star receiver in time for the draft.
  • Beckham also showed up for the Giants voluntary offseason workout.
  • There has been tension between Beckham and the Giants this offseason as he has been seeking a contract extension.

Odell Beckham Jr. still hasn't signed a contract extension with the New York Giants, but that doesn't mean the team is ready to move on from one of the league's very best receivers, as reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Previously, the Giants had indicated they would be open to trading their star receiver, albeit at a very steep price of two first-round draft picks.

This news also comes after Beckham reported to the Giants voluntary offseason workout program, per ESPN.

Taken together, Schefter's report and Beckham's appearance at the Giants workout could indicate that tensions between Beckham and the organization are thawing and that the two parties could be coming closer to agreeing on terms for a contract extension.

Beckham is currently entering the last year of his rookie contract, which is set to pay him $8.5 million this season, a low number considering his considerable talents.

The Giants, meanwhile, will almost certainly need Beckham if they are to rebound quickly from what was a disastrous 2017 season in which the team went 3-13, resulting in both head coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese getting fired.
