Mr Nsofor was a Justice of the Court of Appeal and Lecturer in Law at the Holborn College of Law in London‎. He served as a judge for 28 years and spent 13 of those years in the Court of Appeal before he retired in March 2005 after hitting the official retirement age of 70.

Justice Nsofor courted controversy when he appeared before the Nigerian Senate but refused to sing the National Anthem during questioning by the Senate. His nomination for ambassador was dismissed as a result, but was renominated by President Buhari in April 2017. The Senate reversed their decision and decided to select him.
