<h1>No fewer than 35 political parties out of 55 for Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections in Kwara have adopted candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.</h1>

The spokesman for the parties, under the aegis of Kwara Like-Minds Political Parties (KLPP), Oladele Sunday, disclosed this at a news conference in Ilorin on Wednesday.

He said KLPP which comprises of over 35 parties in the state showed up when it matters.

“We are at a critical stage in our country, but most especially our dear state is already in the political labour room and KLPP has joined hands with APC and other stakeholders in taking a successful delivery of a liberated Kwara.

“Today is not meant for an unending discussion but to let the world know that when Kwara people are dying slowly in the hands of political tyrants, KLPP showed up.

“When Kwara people are groaning and gnashing their teeth under the bad governance in the state, posterity will be fair to us that KLPP showed up,” Sunday said.

He explained that KLPP had instructed their members and appealed to teeming voters in Kwara to come out en-mass on Saturday to vote for APC candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and all APC Kwara House of Assembly candidates.

The Chairman of APC in the state, Bashir Bolarinwa, while speaking at the event, said though the party was sure of victory in Saturday’s elections, but today’s adoption of APC would guarantee success on Saturday.

He noted that the result of the presidential and national assembly elections showed that Kwara has performed credibly well.

The chairmen of many of the political parties that attended the news conference include; PPN, ADC, KOWA party, NCP, MAA, NDLP, BNPP, NNPP, IDP, HDP, FJP, NAC, CAP, DPC,

Others are; APDA, YDP, PPC, YPP, PRP, NPC, PPP, C4C, PT, RPN, AAC, GDPN, AGA, RPPN, ADP, NPM, ANP, UDP, AAN, DA, ASD, APN.

<h1>The Kwara Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has demanded the arrest of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, representing Kwara South at the Senate for masterminding an attack on his opponent, Arc. Lola Ashiru in Saturday’s elections.</h1>

The party’s chairman in the state, Bashir Bolarinwa, made the demand at a press conference in Ilorin on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that there was an attack on the campaign train of Ashiru on Tuesday in Ojoku, the home town of Sen. Ibrahim in Oyun local government area of the state.

Bolarinwa said the attack was a premeditated one and that the attackers came not just to destroy the campaign but to assassinate the party’s candidate.

He explained that the policemen attached to the APC candidate tried to repel the attack on the campaign but they were overwhelmed by the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) thugs.

Bolarinwa said the APC candidate was whisked away by security men and was in hiding for over two hours before the security operatives regrouped and took control of the situation.

He said two persons have died as a result of the attack on Tuesday’s incident.

He said some of the injured are still under intensive care.

“We are reliably informed that the attack was allegedly coordinated by the PDP Kwara South Senatorial candidate, Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim.

“We are calling on security agencies to immediately arrest the perpetrators of the violence at Ojoku and bring them to justice.

“In particular, we demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of alleged coordinator of the violence, Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim.

“We are also appealing to security agencies to arrest thugs and criminals across the state, so that they will not disrupt Saturday’s elections and subsequent ones” Bolarinwa said.

He appealed to the security agencies to rid the state of thugs so that the people of the state can come out to exercise their franchise on Saturday and provide level playing grounds for all the parties.

The chairman appealed to party supporters to remain calm in spite of the desperation of the PDP.

He called on the party’s supporters to revenge with their votes by coming out in large numbers to punish PDP at the polls on Saturday.

<h1>A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara, Alhaji AbdulKadir Oba-Ajara, on Tuesday said he was not arrested by security agents in the state with Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs)</h1>

Addressing newsmen in Ilorin, Oba-Ajara described the report of his arrest as baseless and unfounded.

He said there was never a time he was in possession of voters cards belonging to other people as claimed by the authors of the ‘unsubstantiated and false report.’

Oba-Ajara attributed the allegation to the handiwork of some ’mischief makers‘ whom he said would fail in the attempt to intimidate him.

“I have a PVC which is my legitimate right to possess and I will use that on Saturday.

“I have been in politics since the 50s and I know the limit to which I can go in politics. I fear nobody except God. So, I cannot be intimated.

“I have submitted myself to the Police and the Department of State Security and they told me that they were not looking for me.” he said.

When contacted on the matter, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the command did not arrest anyone with PVCs.

Okasanmi said no such incident was reported to the command and as such no arrest was made.

Addressing newsmen in Ilorin, Oba-Ajara described the report of his arrest as baseless and unfounded.

<h1>Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara, has approval the release of N1.9 billion for the payment of one month salary arrears to Local Government workers, pensioners and primary school teachers in the state.</h1>

The Kwara Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Ademola Banu, made this disclosure in a statement issued to newsmen in Ilorin on Wednesday.

“Gov. Ahmed approved the release of the funds as support for local governments and SUBEB, following an additional revenue inflow into the state.

“The governor supports the local government workers and basic education teachers with the funds instead of deploying it for infrastructure.

“The decision to prioritise workers’ welfare is based on his earlier pledge and concern for their plight on account of salary arrears, which he said, was caused by the drop in federal allocation,’’ he said.

According to the statement, more than one billion naira (N1.1b) is for workers of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) while N599m is for local government workers.

The breakdown also showed that N150 million was for local government pensioners and N50 million for former political office holders at the council level.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the governor and the representatives of labour unions, on Monday, signed an MoU on the payment of workers’ salary arrears.

The MoU also covered the adoption of the N30, 000 minimum wage and the utilisation of extraordinary revenue inflows into the state.
