The president’s spokesperson said Buhari would be remembered for many achievements by fair Nigerians.

Adesina said this in his weekly article titled, ‘NG-CARES: How Buhari quietly attends to needs of Nigerians.

He said Buhari has the interest of Nigerians at heart, adding that his achievements cannot be erased.&nbsp;

“Some revisionists are busy, trying to obfuscate issues and obliterate the achievements of the Buhari administration. But truth is like cork in water. The more you press it down, the more it stays afloat, he said.

“After he retires to his native Daura, in Katsina State, we will always be glad that the honest man was here. I mean those who are fair-minded, but who happen to number in scores of millions”.

According to Adesina, one of the signposts of Buhari’s administration is his kindness to Nigerians. He added that the president did a lot to make life better for many needy Nigerians without making a fuss about it.&nbsp;

“The judgement of history is usually the most enduring, and as President Muhammadu Buhari weighs anchor in less than three weeks, posterity will be impartial, and, therefore, kind to him.

“One signpost of the administration is its care and kindness to Nigerians. Quietly. Without fuss. No adulation or self-aggrandisement.”

“These welfarist interventions give a window into the kind soul of the President, a man some people have not bothered to discern, dissect and decipher.

Adesina also dismissed many claims about his principal’s personality as false, adding that they were all misconceptions.

“They just deliberately stay in the trenches of the past, soused and marooned in apocryphal beliefs: oh, he ruled with an iron fist as military leader. He herded people into jail. He imprisoned journalists through Decree 4. He also had Decree 2, which gave him power to detain anyone indefinitely.

“No human face. He’s a Fulani, and therefore, a herdsman, who supports his people to attack farmers. Religious bigot, who does not recognize any other faith. True? False. And I should know. Why? Because I’ve worked with him closely for eight years, and I can say I know the man Muhammadu Buhari, apart from the myth and the deliberate misconceptions,” he said.

Momodu in a statement on Monday, January 23, 2023, dismissed polls that predicted victory for the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.&nbsp;

According to him, the polls conducted by surveying agencies over-relied on technology for an election that would most likely be determined by Nigeria’s largely illiterate population.&nbsp;

Alluding to historical facts, the publisher of the Ovation Magazine said any election in which the south presents two popular candidates, the north wins.

He said, “I have read with bemusement many of the polls about the forthcoming presidential election on February 25, 2023, and have come to the conclusion that the elitist polls have failed monumentally due to the over-reliance on technology in a largely illiterate population.

“I have decided to help situate the forecasts based on the established political history of Nigeria and empirical data.

“A presidential candidate cannot depend totally on votes from outside his home base to win this election. It is a fact of history that whenever the South produced two strong candidates, the dominant northern candidate won, such as in 1979 and 1983, Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe versus Shehu Shagari.

Momodu believes Tinubu is not popular in the north, adding that the votes the APC presidential candidate would gather in the region would not be enough to win the election.

“Tinubu is far weaker today in the South-West and Awolowo was by far more formidable, while Obi is the new Azikiwe (the first Governor General and President of Nigeria) in the South-East, and Kwankwaso is the current Aminu Kano.

“Atiku will dominate the North-East, North-West, North-Central and South-South. Tinubu may pick a few states in the North and South-West but won’t have enough to win. The bridges required to cross to victory has taken Atiku 30 years to build. Tinubu has not been able to lock down the entire South-West not to talk of the whole of Nigeria. Over-reliance on bribing the electorates will fail,” he said.

On Obi, Momodu said the Labour Party candidate and Atiku would slug it out in the Southeast, which is expected to be the stronghold of Obi.

The publisher maintained that Atiku would sweep the south-south region, adding that the PDP candidate would get substantial votes across the 36 states to record 25 per cent in 24 states.&nbsp;

He said, “Wherever Obi is number one in the East, Atiku will be number two. Wherever Tinubu is number one in the South-West, Atiku will be number two or vice versa. Atiku will be the first to cross the line of recording 25 per cent in 24 states. He will get 25 per cent automatically in the 19 states of northern regions and will pick six in the South-South automatically.

“He will pick up 25 per cent in all of the five states in the South-East, a traditional base of the PDP, and the same in the South-West. Wherever Obi is number one, Atiku will be number two or vice versa.

“I do not know if in any state, the PDP will not record 25 per cent and eventually win the overall popular votes. Nigeria has become so divided that the people are going to vote majorly along ethnic lines as well as primordial sentiments.

“The North will not vote for a “fake Muslim” in the name of a pretentious and mischievous Muslim/Muslim ticket. The scam is dead on arrival.”

He further said that the Northwest region would not abandon an Atiku for a Tinubu who according to him is well known for his iron grip on Lagos State since 1999.

Momodu concluded that Atiku was the most prepared and experienced candidate in the race.

<h2>Prof. Folagbade Aboaba, the Assistant General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is dead.&nbsp;</h2>

Aboaba dies at the age of 90 on Monday, January 23, 2023, after a brief illness.

He was said to be one of the closest allies of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Aboaba’s death was announced in a statement by the national chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Agricultural Engineers, Prof Folarin Alonge.

According to Alonge, the deceased, whom he described as a lovely and cheerful person was a mentor to several people and professors.

He wrote: “One of our Fathers in the profession, Prof. Fola Aboaba, has gone home. He was a Professor of Professors of Professors.

“Prof Folagbade Olajide Aboaba was an Emeritus Professor of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Ibadan and the Pioneering Dean of the Faculty of Technology (1976–1982). I was privileged to be taught by him at both undergraduate and Masters class. He was a mentor to several people and professors.

“He was the Executive Secretary of Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (1992–1998). He was the founding Pro-Chancellor of Redeemers University (2005–2013). He was the Chairman of Governing Council of Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO), Lagos (1976–1979).

“I had a chat with him on Sept 15, 2023, when we were preparing of NIAE conference in Asaba (Delta State). His response to my asking about him is ‘Thank you. Ageing slowly but fine. Glory to God. God bless you’. Baba was a lovely, cheerful and good man.

“He was one of the founding members of the NIAE. He played significant role with other fathers in establishment of National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization, Ilorin. He made substantial contributions to the growth of NSAE (NIAE). His last major public lecture he delivered for NIAE was when we were invited to Presidential villa, Abuja in 2004 by the then Vice President. Late Prof John Ohu was the NIAE National Chairman then. He was always interested in hearing the progress NIAE is making.

“He was a member of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) as well as Institution of Agricultural Engineers UK.

“May his soul find eternal rest in God.”

All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State, says Babajide Akeredolu’s appointment as the Director-General of the Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit, by his father, Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, was by merit.

Babajide Akeredolu’s appointment was announced on Wednesday.

Mr Steve Otaloro, APC’s Director of Media and Publicity in Ondo State, said in a statement issued in Akure on Thursday that Akeredolu’s appointment was based on his positive contributions to the party.

He added that the appointment was not because he is the son of Gov. Akeredolu.

“For the records, Babajide was nominated by our great party on the strength of his relentless contributions to the overall success of the APC in Ondo State and not as the governor’s son.

“It is important to note that this young man did not emerge overnight from the blues. He has been on ground for an appreciable length of time as a resource person to the party.

“He has consistently and diligently proven his mettle at personal costs in joining other faithful to build the party and also going the extra mile in ensuring its improvement.

“The improvement has largely enhanced the electoral value of the APC as well as the fortune of our great party,’’ Otaloro stated.

He added also that Babajide, of his own volition, used his contacts to generate resources and relief materials for people at the height of COVID-19 infections in 2020.

“It is also verifiable testament that the young man worked round-the-clock for the party by deploying state-of-the-art technology to help in the 2019 general election which ultimately earned the APC a resounding victory.

“No one labelled him the governor’s son then.

“When he was using his resources to mobilise youths of the state for our party towards the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, nobody identified him as the governor’s son then,’’ Otaloro stressed.

According to him, Babajide is a true patriot and a genuine son of the state, contributing greater glory to the state.

“To whom who has contributed so much to a cause; by same token deserves appreciation from the society.

“Now that Babajide is rewarded for all his hard work and devotion to the cause of the party, it came as surprise that a few in the opposition could needlessly raise brows.

“When has it become a violation of the Constitution to appoint a hardworking, devoted, loyal and committed party man into a government position’’? he queried.

Otaloro noted that&nbsp;with all sense of modesty, Babajide could be described as a great asset to the APC in the state “and we fully endorse his appointment.

“The honourable way to express appreciation of any member adjudged to have worked and is loyal to the party is to recommend such hardworking party man or woman for appointment.

“This goes beyond appreciation, but also a sure way of giving such a diligent party member a sense of belonging.

“Babajide Akeredolu is one of such persons recommended to Gov. Akeredolu for appointment and we are glad he obliged the party,’’ he stated.

He attributed the criticism of the appointment by the opposition to fear of what the governor’s son was capable of bringing to the table that would further enhance the fortune of the state.

“His capacity to innovate and as an outstanding technology wizard will invariably open up a wider window of opportunities for the state in terms of patronage and technological breakthroughs.

“This is what the opposition detests. But they’re wrong to have opposed the development of the state which our party APC stands for.

“The good people of Ondo State, especially youths whom Babajide has helped in raising their standard of living via exposure to technological innovative ideas are very pleased with the appointment,’’ he stated.

Otaloro urged Babajide not to be distracted by wailers and ranting of the opposition.

He described the opposition as not only envious of Babajide’s accomplishments but afraid of greater things to come from his reservoir of knowledge that would propel APC to greater heights.

Dangote Industries Limited has restated its commitment to contributing to significant reduction in the number of unemployed Nigerians even as the Lagos Chamber of Commerce &amp; Industry lauded the indigenous conglomerate spread across Africa.

Speaking at the Dangote Special Day, at the on-going 2021 Lagos International Trade Fair, Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations, Hajiya Halima Aliko-Dangote stated that the nation’s foremost conglomerate intends to achieve the goal through its various investment projects spread across the nation.

Halima Aliko-Dangote who was represented by the Group Chief Commercial Officer, Dangote Industries Limited, Rabiu Umar said that the Group is committed to the ameliorating the sufferings in the society especially in the reduction of unemployment, hence the huge sums being invested in various projects across Nigeria.

He stated that the Group’s interest is beyond profit making but to supporting government in job creation, reducing poverty, and engaging in unprecedented philanthropy, adding that outside of government, the Dangote Group is the biggest employer of labour in Nigeria.

Rabiu said that farmers were excited over the new fertiliser product, which is already in the market, both locally and internationally.

On the Group’s participation at the Trade Fair, he said “Our participation at all major trade fairs across the country is a means of demonstrating our firm belief that Chambers of Commerce and Industry occupy a unique position in driving economic development through their activities. He added “Our expectation therefore is that through this Trade Fair, we will be able to further expand awareness for our innovative products, generate sales, get prospective buyers, improve the image of our brands and open up new markets that will further translate to job creation and overall economic development.”

He added that early this year Dangote emerged as Africa’s Best Brand in a competitive selection process by Brand Africa 100, saying that “The Africa’s Best Brand Award was in recognition of our customer-friendly products. The recognition has gingered us to do more. We have won the most valuable brand award in Nigeria for the fourth consecutive year.”
