<h1>Many people in the ancient town of Daura, Katsina, on Wednesday jubilated after the news broke that President Muhammadu Buhari has won a second term.</h1>

NAN reports that Buhari was declared re-elected having polled 15,191,847 votes, winning in 19 states, to defeat other 72 candidates including Atiku Abubakar, the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 11, 255,978 votes and won 17 states and the FCT, to occupied the second position.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, youths gathered at the popular Kangiwa square in Daura, where activities including car and horse riding began as early as 6. 30 a.m. after INEC declared Buhari winner of the elections.

Some of the residents who expressed optimism that Buhari would complete the development projects he started, described the re-election as an “act of God”.

Alhaji Abdulmanaf Muhammad, the Northwest zonal organising secretary of the APC said: ”We are happy. The re-election of Buhari is as an act of God and clear manifestation of the will of the majority .

“The next four years of this administration, will be for consolidation, nation-building and cooperation.

“President Buhari will use his wisdom and experience to unite the nation. I call on the president to extend the olive branch to the opposition in the spirit of nation building and cooperation,” he said..

He appealed to the APC-led administration to reconsider bringing back aggrieved members of the party who defected to other political parties.

Also speaking, Malam Ali Rabe, a civil servant said: ‘we are so happy today. We cannot control our feelings.

”We pray for him to succeed in the next four years by repositioning Nigeria. We also look forward to seeing Buhari tackling the nation’s economic challenges, strict adherence to rule of law especially on anti corruption fight and attitudinal change amongst Nigerians,” he said.

Also speaking, Alhaji Lawal Garba ,a former member of house of representatives, described Buhari’s victory as the victory for Nigeria and the entire African continent especially considering the role played by Nigeria on the African continent on sensitive issues .

Contributing, Alhaji Shuaibu Wakili, the Katsina State chairman of the Rice Farmers Association, who glorified God for the victory of Buhari, called on members to pray for a successful tenure for the president.

“Hundreds of members of the association have benefited from the anchor borrower agricultural programme of this administration.

”We are looking forward to many more laudable programmes for Nigerians,” he said.

Jubilation in ancient city of Daura as Buhari wins presidential elections

<h1>Alhaji Abdulmanaf Muhammad, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday called on supporters of the party nationwide to vote massively in the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections on Feb. 23.</h1>

Muhammad, who is the Northwest APC Zonal Organising Secretary, made the call in Daura when he addressed thousands of party supporters during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting.

He said the party was saddened and disappointed over the sudden postponement of the elections formerly scheduled to hold between Feb. 16 and March 2.

The APC scribe, however, added that the postponement was not deliberate.

He said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had proffered cogent and convincing reasons as to why the polls were shifted to Feb. 23 and March 9.

“We are aware that logistic problems are some of the reasons for the postponement.

“We urge the electorate, especially supporters of the ruling party to ignore the rumour and unfounded allegations being spread by the opposition as to why the elections were shifted.

“We are committed to a free, fair and credible elections but the system must be sanitised, ” Muhammad said.

The APC chieftain noted that the Buhari Administration had successfully secured the Northeast and liberated 17 local government areas, which had been under the control of Boko-Haram insurgents in Borno.

Muhammad noted that the quantum of development projects being executed by the Buhari administration in the last three years were unprecedented.

He said in spite of the current dwindling oil revenue, the APC-led administration was dutifully repositioning Nigeria, contrary to what previous administrations had done.

“The present administration has demonstrated strong political will, commitment and determination through its efforts in transformation of Agriculture.

“It banned importation of foreign rice and encouraged mass rice production programmes, which culminated in establishment of several rice milling factories.

“Also agricultural programmes, especially the much popularised Anchor Borrowers’ Scheme, has within its three years of inception created thousands of millionaires, created job opportunities and boosted food security.

“These show the need for Nigerians to re-elect President Buhari and all those seeking for elective offices under the platform of the APC for consolidation and fulfilment of the campaign promises made by the party,’’ he said.

Muhammad assured that execution of giant projects like the Mambila power project, revitalisation of the Ajaokuta Steel Company, oil exploration and many more would continue.

He said that the current administration had since completed and inaugurated the Baro Inland Water Port and some rail lines to indicate its commitment toward a better Nigeria.

Muhammad also lauded the efforts of the Buhari administration for instiling attitude of probity, accountability and transparency through the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

“We have minimised the instances of government agencies dubiously operating multiple bank accounts.

“The era of sharing Nigeria’s money like bonanza is over as you have to merit what you earn.

“The initiatives of the Buhari administration in providing bailout funds and the Paris Club refunds to state governors are clear demonstration of sincerity of purpose and determination to free the nation from wastages of the past,’’ he said.

Muhammad stressed that salaries and other entitlements of civil servants were being paid regularly.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was attended by APC supporters across 12 local governments in Katsina North Senatorial District.

The 12 local governments comprise: Daura, Sandamu, Maiadua, Baure, Zango, Kusada, Mani, Mashi, Dutsi, Kankiya, Ingawa and Bindawa.

<h1>Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha has called on Nigerian women to support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by voting for the party in the forthcoming general election.</h1>

Aisha made the call in Daura on Wednesday when she addressed thousands of youth and women during the round off of door to door presidential campaign ahead of the Feb. 16 poll.

She described women as vanguards of change and character development.

“We will by the grace of God continue to initiate policies and programmes geared towards women empowerment,” Aisha said.

She added that the Buhari led administration had performed creditably towards enhancing the welfare of Nigerian woman especially through the introduction of TraderMoni scheme and many other empowerment programmes.

She said if her husband is reelected she would continue to execute programmes that would impact positively on the lives of women and children.

Earlier, Prof. Sadiya Sani assured the wife of the president that women would massively vote for APC in the forthcoming election.

She said the Buhari led administration has performed wonderfully not only for women and youth but the entire nation through its policies on infrastructure, security and the fight against corruption.

Highlight of the events were drama presentation and musical entertainment by popular Kannywood Actress Fati Niger and her group.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that prior to the event Aisha paid homage on Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar in his palace in Daura.

Aisha Buhari calls on women to vote massively for APC

<h1>The Agricultural Non Governmental Organisations (ANGONET) has commended the giant strides of President Muhammadu Buharis administration in agriculture and other key sectors of the economy .</h1>

Alhaji Rabe Daura, the National President of the body,gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura on Friday.

He said the present administration had successfully revived the agricultural sector through the introduction of the anchor borrowers agricultural programme.

Daura said the Anchor Borrowers Programme had created millions of jobs and thousands of millionaires through its mass rice, sorghum, wheat, beans and sesame production programmes.

He described President Buhari as a reformer who was committed to restoring the lost glory of Nigeria through exceptional policies, saying that the group would rally round him to succeed .

Daura, who doubles as the Katsina Vice Chairman of Maize Farmers Association, noted that no fewer than 4,000 farmers in Katsina North Senatorial district were provided with farming inputs.

He said the inputs include: fertilizer, seedlings, insecticides and herbicides aimed at encouraging farmers to produce maize in commercial quantity.

Daura said that the inputs were provided via loans under the anchor borrowers scheme, pointing out that the farmers had so far recorded about 55 per centre payment with bags of the commodity.

We will in due course expand the scope to accommodate more interested farmers, he said.

He described the construction of the recently inaugurated Baro Inland water ports in Niger as a great feat that would facilitate easy export of agricultural produce.

He said the Buhari administration had no doubt restored the lost glory of Nigeria in the international community, especially in trade and other bilateral and multi lateral agreements.

The national president of the body also said he was not surprised when Buhari was recently declared, by the UN General Assembly as the President of the decade.

Daura, who also expressed delight that African Union (AU) named Buhari as the Anti- corruption champion, said the declarations helped boost the image and corporate existence of Nigeria globally.

He urged Nigerians to rally round Mr President to ensure that he returns to power in the next general elections.

This will enable the President to consolidate on the earlier gains so far recorded. Posterity will remember President Buhari as the best leader of his time, he said.

NAN reports that Daura is also the Chapter Chairman, Tomato Growers Association in Daura.
