President meets with Yari-led Governors' delegation in Abuja

The meeting commenced shortly after the president's meeting with service chiefs.

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with a delegation of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) led by its Chairman, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State.

The meeting is taking place at the Presidential Villa, and commenced shortly after the president's meeting with service chiefs.

The meeting was disclosed by the president's Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, on his Twitter account .

He posted, "After presiding over a Security Meeting earlier, President Muhammadu Buhari is now holding a meeting with some members of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) led by its Chairman, Gov. Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State."

Governors confirmed to be part of the delegation are Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu, and Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

President briefed on insecurity

The president also met with service chiefs at the Villa on Thursday, January 25, 2018, to get briefed on the security situation in the country.

Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin; Chief of Army Staff ; Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Ibik–Eke Ibns; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar were all present at the meeting.

Others in attendance are National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar, Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali, and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
