Police officer caught on camera demanding bribe from Okadaman [Video]

Efforts by the Inspector General of Police to sanitize the force has not been paying dividends as some of his officers keep thwarting such efforts.

The incident, according to an eyewitness, I-Kay Freeman who made a video of it, happened in the Mowo in the Badagry area of Lagos State a few days ago when a police team at a stop and checkpoint demanded a bribe from the Okadaman who told them he did not have more than N100 to give them.

According to Freeman who posted the video on his Facebook page, one of the officers, a Sergeant who looked drunk, insisted that the Okadaman must pay more than the N100 to get a passage.

Apart from insisting that the man pay more, the officer is heard in the video insulting the Freeman who was being ferried by the Okadaman, fired a shot in the air and threatened to kill both the Okadaman and the passenger, saying things like 'you wan make I paralyze you?'.

Read what Freeman posted:

"Had an encounter with a drunk policeman today. I was on a bike; he stopped the bike man, was asking for particulars. The whole scenario was funny until he released a bullet and threatened to shoot us.

That was when I decided to record the video. I wish this video gets to people that would take action."

This is coming as the #EndSARS and #EndSARSBrutality campaigns on social media over the brutal treatment of the security operatives has been gathering momentum with physical protests in many parts of the nation.
