Latest on former Catholic priest’s new life as a ‘free’ man
A lot has changed since Rev. Edet made his dramatic exit from the Catholic church.
He made the startling announcement on air through his weekly live radio programme called Grace and Inspiration.
According to him, his decision was the result of praying and fasting for seven-month, during which he asked God for direction.
He also added that he was leaving to answer his divine calling.
Since his dramatic exit, there have been major changes in the former priest’s life, who now goes by his name, Patrick.
Here is a breakdown of everything that has happened since he left the priesthood.
He has officially launched his own ministry in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State: During his time as a Catholic priest, Mr Edet ran a fellowship called Grace Family Outreach.
Although it was within the Catholic structure, it had a ‘Pentecostal-style’. Reportedly this caused some issues between him and the Catholic Diocese of Uyo. His exit from the priesthood has allowed him to run this without interference.
He has held a great awakening programme that lasted for eight days: Uyo just witnessed Mr. Edet’s “mega revival” programme. The eight-day programme, tagged “The Great Awakening”, was held at the Ibom Hall.
Thanks to his dedicated followers and the placement of billboards at strategic locations, the event drew huge crowds. Many people defied the heavy rains to attend the programme that started on September 1 and ended on the 8th with a night vigil.
AristoNews reports that he announced his intention to stay a silent Catholic faithful for the rest of his life during the programme. This marks his first major public outing as a ‘free’ man.
He is allegedly getting married: The city of Uyo is swirling with the rumours of Mr Edet’s wedding. According to Hinteractive Nigeria, this rumour has been confirmed by an anonymous family member of the former priest.
This source, who lives with Rev. Patrick Edet, dropped hints of the clergy’s romantic relationship with his would-be bride but refused to reveal her identity.
“What I can say is that my brother will soon be marrying. When and where he will do so, no one knows,” the source said.
After many attempts to reach the preacher, Pulse was able to reach his P.A, who could not confirm or deny the rumours.
However, our anonymous source in Uyo says the wedding will hold before the end of October, 2017.
If this news is true, it confirms what many suspected was Mr Edet‘s real reason for leaving the priesthood.
We wish him all the best in his new life as outside the Catholic church.
