Snapchat's longtime head of engineering, Tim Sehn, is resigning from the company (SNAP)

Tim Sehn, Snap Inc.'s senior vice president of engineering, is leaving the company after four years. He will be replaced by Jerry Hunter.

  • The Snap executive in charge of all its engineering efforts, Tim Sehn, is leaving.
  • Sehn was one of Snap's highest-paid execs.
  • He's the fourth exec to leave Snap since its initial public offering earlier this year.

Tim Sehn, Snap Inc.'s senior vice president of engineering, is leaving the company on December 1, Snap said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday.

Sehn joined the Snapchat-marker in 2013 and oversaw all of the company's engineering efforts to date. He was one of Snap's highest-paid execs and sold shares totaling roughly $27 million this year.

A Snap spokesperson declined to comment beyond the company's filing with the SEC, which said Sehn resigned on November 7, the same day that Snap missed Wall Street's expectations for its third-quarter earnings. Sehn couldn't be reached for comment.

Jerry Hunter will replace Sehn as head of all engineering, according to Snap. Hunter had served under Sehn as Snap's vice president of core engineering since he joined from Amazon last year.

Sehn is Snap's fourth executive to depart since its tumultuous initial public offering earlier this year. The company said Tuesday that it would release a redesign of its app to help kick-start stalled user growth.
