Moses announced his retirement from the Super Eaglesthrough a post on his official Instagram account on Wednesday, August 16.

His announcement has brought about mixed reactions from football loving Nigerians most of whom expired disappointment at his decision at the age of 27!!

The Chelsea forward made his debut in 2012 under Stephen Keshi and represented Nigeria at the 2014 & 2018 FIFA World Cup and also at the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) which the country won.

Premier League colleagues such Leicester City duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho have kept mute about his retirement on their various social media accounts.

Some of his colleagues have however in the national team have acknowledged his early retirement.

Al Nassr forward took to his official Twitter handle to wish Moses well on his departure from the national team.

He said, “It was a pleasure to play alongside such a great player. You have served your nation well and will always be remembered. Good luck in all you do        @VictorMoses”

Super Eagles centre back William Troost Ekong also posted a message in the comment section of his Instagram post.

He said, “Bro I wish you the best! Thanks for everything.”

Arsenal's Alex Iwobi took to his official Twitter account to post a message in tribute to Moses.

He said, "Thank You For Paving The Way For Us. You Achieved So Much For Our Country. It Was A Pleasure To Play With You, Wishing You The Best Big Bro @VictorMoses         "

Bursaspor right back also posted a message to Moses on his official Twitter account.

He said, "I wish you all the best bro!"

There are several reports that indicate that Moses has not struck up the best of relationships with some factions in the Super Eagles.

There are reports that some players of the Super Eagles will soon announce their retirement following the group stage exit at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

There also has been no communication from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) regarding the recent development.

Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr also is yet to give his opinion on the issue especially after hinting that some star players from the World Cup will be dropped for the 2019 AFCON qualifier against Seychelles in September.

Other Super Eagles star are yet to express their opinion on the shock retirement, especially his former teammate at Chelsea and now captain of the national team Mikel Obi.
